Types of seals

There are several types of seals, including:

  1. Mechanical Seals: A mechanical seal is a device used to prevent leakage between two moving parts. It consists of two flat surfaces, one stationary and one rotating, that are pressed together by a spring or other mechanism.

  2. Hydraulic Seals: Hydraulic seals are used to prevent fluid from leaking out of hydraulic cylinders. They are made from materials such as rubber or plastic and can be designed to withstand high pressures and temperatures.

  3. Oil Seals: An oil seal, also known as a grease seal, is a device used to prevent oil or grease from leaking out of a machine. They are typically made from rubber or other elastomers and are installed around a rotating shaft.

  4. O-Rings: An O-ring is a type of mechanical seal that is used to prevent the leakage of fluids or gases between two surfaces. They are typically made from rubber or plastic and are used in a wide range of applications, from automotive engines to hydraulic systems.

  5. Gasket Seals: A gasket seal is a mechanical seal used to fill the gap between two flat surfaces. They are typically made from materials such as rubber, cork, or metal and are used to prevent leaks in engines, pumps, and other machinery.

  6. Lip Seals: A lip seal is a type of mechanical seal used to prevent the leakage of fluids or gases around a rotating shaft. They consist of a flexible lip that contacts the shaft and prevents the fluid or gas from escaping.

  7. Magnetic Seals: A magnetic seal is a type of mechanical seal that uses a magnetic field to create a seal between two surfaces. They are typically used in applications where high pressures or temperatures are present.
